Democrat Jon Ossoff raised $15 million in the past two months leading up to Georgia’s special House election, bringing his overall fundraising total to $23 million, a massive sum for a House candidate.

Ossoff’s campaign touted that the average contribution to his campaign was $20.49. Spending in the race has topped $40 million, shattering the record for the most expensive House race in history.

In the lead-up to the all-party primary, Ossoff raised more than $8 million. The $15 million sum, driven by intense online fundraising, came in from March 30 through the end of May.

Republican Karen Handel raised over $4 million in April and May, according to a FEC report filed by her campaign Thursday evening — what would usually be considered an immense sum for a House race, but one that has been dwarfed by Ossoff in Georgia. Handel, who’s run for several statewide offices, has struggled in the past with fundraising.

The Atlanta Journal-Constitution first reported Ossoff’s fundraising totals.
