The Supreme Court ruled today that a Missouri church was wrongly denied a state grant in a closely watched church-state separation case that could have big implications for President Donald Trump’s school choice agenda.

The court ruled 7-2 that Missouri was wrong to deny Trinity Lutheran a grant "simply because of what it is — a church." The justices held that Trinity Lutheran Church was illegally excluded from an otherwise neutral public benefit — a state grant to resurface school playgrounds — simply because it was religious.
