President Donald Trump on Saturday continued his feud with "Morning Joe" hosts Joe Scarborough and Mika Brzezinski, deriding them as "crazy" and "dumb" but claiming their "low" ratings are the fault of NBC.
"Crazy Joe Scarborough and dumb as a rock Mika are not bad people, but their low rated show is dominated by their NBC bosses. Too bad," the president wrote on Saturday morning.
Trump and Scarborough publicly sparred this past week after the president lashed out at the MSNBC co-hosts by tweeting Thursday that Brzezinski had a "low I.Q.” and had been “bleeding badly from a face-lift" during a past visit to his Mar-a-Lago estate. The comments were widely criticized by lawmakers across aisle.
In an op-ed published Friday in the Washington Post, the "Morning Joe" co-hosts responded by writing Trump “is not mentally equipped to continue watching our show.”
Prior to Trump’s tweet this morning, Scarborough wrote on Twitter that "The President and Congress need to get their act together," casting Trump’s tweets as a distraction from policy matters.
Trump also wrote this morning that Greta Van Sustren was fired because she refused to go after him on her MSNBC program.
"Word is that @Greta Van Susteren was let go by her out of control bosses at @NBC & @Comcast because she refused to go along w/ ‘Trump hate," he tweeted.
Van Susteren announced she was "out at MSNBC" on Thursday. She was given no prior notice of the decision to let her go, according to CNN, and was told her on-air presence was not "confrontational enough."
Van Susteren’s show, "For the Record," debuted in January.
In addition, Trump also went after CNN on Saturday, continuing his frequent attacks on the media: "I am extremely pleased to see that @CNN has finally been exposed as #FakeNews and garbage journalism. It’s about time!"
