The media is “myopic” and “lemming-like” when it comes to its coverage of President Donald Trump and the ongoing investigations into potential ties between his campaign and the Russian government, counselor to the president Kellyanne Conway said.

That “sameness,” she told Fox News’ “Hannity” Wednesday night, is the reason why trust in the media has dropped substantially.

“The pushback’s coming from the American people. Have you seen the approval rating of the media lately and the ratings on shows and networks,” Conway said before pausing to compliment host and Trump supporter Sean Hannity on his “incredible ratings.” “People are looking for an alternative because in addition to there being sort of a myopic, lemming-like, ants-on-a-sugar-cube mentality on this story by many in the media, there’s just this culture of sameness. Everybody sounds the same.”

Conway and Hannity spent much of their interview trading complaints about the media and its coverage of Donald Trump Jr.’s meeting last summer with a Russian lawyer who he was told possessed damaging information from the Kremlin regarding Democratic presidential candidate Hillary Clinton.

Conway closed her interview with Hannity with a set of props, holding up a piece of paper that read “conclusion?” with the word “collusion” beneath it, which the counselor to the president crossed out with red sharpie as she argued that Trump Jr.’s meeting was not evidence of cooperation between the Trump campaign and the Russian government.

Instead, Conway said the coverage of the meeting was evidence to her of “illusion” and “delusion” as she held up a second sign bearing the two words.

Both Conway and Hannity wondered aloud why the media has devoted so much time to the Trump Jr. meeting and not enough to cooperation between Democrats and the Ukrainian government to damage Trump’s candidacy.

Conway said the explanation she has heard is that Clinton lost and Trump won, and as such the latter deserves more scrutiny, which she said “does not erase the fact that people may have broken the law and that they colluded with foreign governments to try to damage people on the Trump campaign.”

“Well that’s about a different candidate, the one who lost and who the media wanted to win and predicted would win,” Conway said derisively in response to a question from Hannity about an array of Clinton-related scandals he feels are under-covered by the media. “They neither expected nor wanted this election result and the president is right when he points that out: that so much of this goes back to the election results and the fact that people are trying to bleach-bit it and make it go away.”
