White House counselor Kellyanne Conway said Sunday she had "zero concern" about Vice President Mike Pence setting up a shadow 2020 presidential campaign.
In an interview with George Stephanopoulos on ABC’s "This Week," Conway responded to a New York Times story that described Pence advisers having suggested to donors that he would plan to run if President Donald Trump did not. In a statement Sunday, Pence said the allegations in the piece were "categorically false."
"That is complete fiction," Conway said when asked about Pence laying the groundwork for a campaign. "That is complete fabrication."
Conway said Trump "plans on being a two-term president" and that Pence was "very loyal."
"Most of the people quoted, most involved, I’m sure, have never won a national political campaign like the one I was involved in and you were involved in years ago," she said, referring to the Stephanopoulos connection to Bill Clinton.
