President Donald Trump continued to criticize the news media on Twitter on Tuesday while on vacation in New Jersey.
Trump sent out a tweet promoting a report from the conservative organization the American Center for Law and Justice, which had requested and published several emails related to former Attorney General Loretta Lynch’s infamous tarmac meeting with Bill Clinton last year.
The group published emails between Obama administration officials and reporters asking about the meeting, which became a minor scandal because Lynch’s Justice Department was investigating Hillary Clinton’s use of a private email server as secretary of state at the time.
In the emails, reporters from The Washington Post and The New York Times reporter each told Obama officials that their editors were the ones most interested in the story, which the ACLJ claimed is “clear evidence that the main stream media was colluding with the DOJ to bury the story.” (Reporters often blame their editors when talking to sources about stories they won’t like.)
“E-mails show that the AmazonWashingtonPost and the FailingNewYorkTimes were reluctant to cover the Clinton/Lynch secret meeting in plane,” Trump tweeted.
Trump also sent a tweet that seemed to be in response to his low approval ratings.
“After 200 days, rarely has any Administration achieved what we have achieved..not even close!” he tweeted. “Don’t believe the Fake News Suppression Polls!”
